She dated me as a bet, what should i do?

by anononymous

So my ex girlfriend and I went out for a little over seven months until one day she sounded upset and told me to go over to her house, she was crying and could barely speak because she was so hysterical.

She said between gasps that she loved me and that she didn't want to hurt me but that breaking up with me was the only way of not hurting me.

Apparently her friend put her up to the challenge of making me fall in love with her, and then breaking up with me but she ended up falling in love with me but then when it came down to breaking up with me, she couldn't and her friend threatened to tell me.

I think that maybe i should try to talk to her again and tell her I love her and that i don't care what happened in the past. I'm wondering would this make me come across as weak or should I wait for her to call?

Answer

It's hard to know exactly what your relationship is like with this girl. But, if she really did start dating you because of a bet, you have plenty of evidence to question her intentions, let alone her true feelings.

She probably already knows that you care for her strongly. Telling her that won't accomplish anything. I'd say your instinct to avoid seeming weak, is a good one. She needs to come to you and apologize and validate her feelings, not the other way around.

If she does, then she really likes you. If she doesn't, she might just be feeling bad that she hurt your feelings, but she doesn't really want a relationship.

Good Luck!
