Writing Seductive Love Letters

The ability to write seductive love letters is a good skill to have. Sometimes, a poetic, well thought out letter can be the best way to convey your feelings, and get them feeling the same way.

We'll focus on the basics of writing a quality, romantic love letter, that has the power to seduce.

Seductive Love Letter

No Computers

Alright, first things first. If you're going to write an effectively seductive love letter, you can't do it by e-mail. The computer is a romance killer.

When a letter travels some actual distance, it becomes more significant. It is now the survivor of a quest. A triumphant victor over the US Postal service.

Also, an actual letter becomes a memento to be held onto and cherished. E-mails just disappear into the empty non-existence of the interweb. Ain't that sad?

So, write your letter by hand, or, if your hand writing is really bad, use a type writer. Type writers are romantic and old school, and they're fun to use. But, no computers!

Sweet, Not Sappy

There is a fine line between being sweet, and being sappy. Try your best not to cross it.

Good poetry is very powerful, and can be instrumental in crafting a seductive love letter. But, bad poetry makes people want to jump off bridges. So, don't overdo it.

Lets learn from a pro:

"I love you. That is all I know. But all I know, too, is that I am writing into space."

March 16, 1950
Dylan Thomas

Mr. Thomas was a very good Welsh poet. But, he wasn't overly flowery in his love letters. In this quote he manages to display his feelings while also showing worry that those feelings might not be reciprocal.

It is very effective.

Desire and Temptation

If you want to seduce with your words, you need to implant some desire and temptation, something that will get the recipient to think about touch and closeness when thinking about you.

This, too, needs to be subtle to be effective. Here is a nice example from a love letter by Katherine Mansfield:

"It is partly because we are young that I feel this tenderness. I love your mouth. I can't bear that it may be touched even by a cold wind..."

This line is very seductive. The antidote for the cold wind is obviously a warm kiss. She manages to evoke a somewhat sexual image without describing it.

After reading the letter, the recipient is left yearning for that closeness, completely seduced.
