Runnaway Father

by Honestly Alice
(Home)

I was just a little girl when he left
And I bet he hasn't missed me yet
I checked the mail everyday
Just to find another empty space
Cases full of photo's
With one missing father
The months passed
Days got harder
Daddy, did you ever once think of your daughter?
If you caught me on the street
You would never even think that it was me
I have changed since I was a baby
Maybe you would smile
Or maybe you would run
Either way, it wouldn't be fun
You didn't just leave mom
You left her with me
I bet you never thought
It wouldn't be easy
Why did you go?
Where have you been?
The lonely nights without strong hands
Of a unconditionally loving man
You left me when I was 2
And I wonder, did you even care
That I stared out the window for years
Waiting for that blue corvet
I bet you didn't
I bet you never kissed me goodbye
I bet you didn't even cry
I bet you never know that I
Would be thinking about you
And how I'm the only one that can say
(Even to this day)
I have a runnaway father
