Long distance relationship

I met a girl through fencing tournaments whom i have a huge crush on and i think she feels the same way but she lives a hour and a half away and neither of our parents have the kind of time or patience necessary to drive us that far and back. but i have a friend who drives by there every 2 weeks who would give me a ride but i don't know if that is enough for a successful relationship or not. We're 13 and we're both big fans of instant messaging if that helps at all.
I want to ask her out but i don't know if it'll work cause of the distance.
Please help

There is only one way to know if it'll work out. You just gotta give it a shot. Relationships are rarely ideal. It's good that you're learning this young.
So, ask her out. Try to see each other as much as possible, and talk a bunch on instant messenger.
If there comes a time when either of you feel like it's not working due to the distance, you may have to call it quits... But, that's no big deal. If it works out, you'll get your driver's license in a few years, and you'll get to see her more often.
Give it a try, see what you learn. There really is no downside.
