He won't say I love you

by Chrissy
(Jacksonville Fl)

I have been with this man for about a year and a half now but he has never said he loves me. About a year ago I told him that I loved him and he told me honestly that he wasn't quite there yet but he saw himself falling in love with me and that was the closest I have ever gotten. I have not said it since.

We are in a long distance relationship but we talk every day and see each other almost every week. We constantly spend time with his family, most of whom I am on a personal basis with, and he has met my family on more than one occasion. I am positive he is not seeing anyone else, and the way he treats me makes me believe he is in love with me but then again could the reason he can't tell me he loves me is because he doesn't?

He just left for deployment and i was hoping by now he would have gotten it out, but no such luck.

Answer

Hi Chrissy,

There are two possibilities here..

A. He doesn't think he loves you yet.

B. He loves you, but he's afraid to say it.

Either way though, Chrissy, it's not so bad. You know that he cares for you. If the only problem in the relationship is that he hasn't told you he loves you, you're relationship is still healthier than most.

Now, if he starts to pull away emotionally, then the relationship might be in trouble...

but, for now, just focus on building your relationship together. As long as the two of you are moving in the right direction, there is no reason to be upset over three little words...
