dating man whose long term partner has alzheimers

I do not want to get involved with an unavailable man.

I met a man who seems perfect for me except I learned that his long term live in girlfriend has alzheimers. She still lives with him as her disease progresses.

He says he really likes me and wants to pursue a relationship with me.

I do not know what to do? Do I believe him that he no longer has a relationship with her?

Answer:

If I were dealing with my long-time girlfriend slowly losing her self, I would want someone to be there for me, to help me through the difficulties, and to be there after she passed away.

Would I still be emotionally attached to her? Yes.

He lives with her. He still has a relationship with her. Is it the same type of relationship he used to have with her? Probably not.

It's up to you to decide how much love he has to give right now. And whether or not you want it.
