broken dreams
by salwa subhani
(pakistan)
in the hours of despair
i look towards the sky
letting the rain wet my hair
while i bitterly cry
just because i trusted you
is no big deal
but the way you rejected me
was something too hard to accept
letting the rain soak my forgotten memories
i see you standing nearby
from my lips escapes a sigh
seeing the person i dreamt for years
my' dreamboy'
telling me that you don't need me
is a blow to me
i told you once
that without you i would die
so i close my eyes and make a prayer
a small sincere prayer for you
to make you need me again
but alas
the rain pours harder
you go under a shelter carelessly
i shut my eyes
unable to accept the harsh reality
not that you left me in rain
but..of an unanswered prayer
then i turn and walk away
through the pouring rain
towards,
an unknown destination
an unknown string of broken dreams
i slip sometimes
on my way
but no hand holds me now
with injured bare feet
i move on
towards..
an unknown destiny
an unknown string of broken dreams
then i stop by a wall
my bleeding heart reads;
"some dreams are born dead some are buried alive
this is life"
i return home and change
into a white dress
looking at my half burnt diary
i sigh.."no wonder this is life"
and close my eyes forever!
i also get buried that day.
with my dreams,
but not alive....
