Anniversary Advice

Hi,
I can't believe I'm doing this, but here goes--my one-year dating anniversary is this weekend (7 days and counting), and I have absolutely no idea what to do about it. We're both in college and living in dorms, and I'm completely broke. I want to be creative and surprising, but I find myself completely uninspired. He loves all things outdoors, Calvin and Hobbes, web comics, animals, Frank Zappa et al., really just about everything. I'd like to make something, but everything I can come up with is too trite. I'm usually a pretty creative person, but I'm out of juice and I've been scrambling for two months now. I've already given him a painting, a bad day box, and a few other homemade gift things that he really liked, and I feel like I have to outdo myself for this anniversary. It's a big deal. Anything you can offer me would be highly, highly appreciated.

Hi Terri. I realize that this answer may be coming too late for your Anniversary. I apologize for the delay, but maybe you can use this as a Christmas gift idea for your boyfriend, or for his birthday.
The best gift you can give a boyfriend at this stage in a relationship is some great time with you, his loving girlfriend.
So, I would give him a trip. Since you're in Boston, you could do a bus trip to Montreal or go skiing in Vermont for the weekend. (the first being much cheaper than the latter). You'll get to spend some great time with each other while getting out of your usual habitat. A great trip can really take the relationship to the next level (It can also unveil potential weak spots in a relationship).
When your boyfriend's birthday comes up, and you need you're trying to think of the perfect gift idea, get him a trip with you, out of town.
Good Luck!
